I can recall being so focused on my homework that I did not hear my mom talking to me even though she was only a few feet away.

Sometimes I'll be listening to music while doing homework and I will only focus on my work. I do not notice what songs are playing or how much time has past.

In the summer at tennis tournaments I noticed myself being focused on winning points and playing well that I would forget the score and occasionally when my opponent would try to start a conversation on switch overs I would accidentally ignore them because I wasn’t expecting them to talk to me at that moment.

During track meets, I am often jumping while races are being run. I become so focused on jumping that I tend to tune out other people and the sound of the starting gun.

I remember when I ice bucketed for gymnastics, I would watch a tv show to distract me from the cold.
